Small cone holes

Skunks and armadillos dig small, cone-shaped holes while hunting grubs. Skunks leave scattered shallow digs, and armadillos leave deeper, wider holes.

Tunnels and ridges

Moles make raised ridges as they tunnel just under the surface and push up cone mounds. Voles use the grass and leave open holes and runways.

Big burrows

Groundhogs dig large burrows with a pile of dirt at the front. Chipmunks dig small round holes with no dirt pile and they hide the entrance.
