Signs
Sunken pavers, soft ground near the foundation and fresh dirt mounds are early signs.
What causes it
Armadillos hunt grubs. Groundhogs look for shelter and food. Both love loose soil, mulch and covered spaces.
How to stop it
Remove the animal, fill the burrow and add a buried barrier around decks and sheds. Reduce grubs and keep grass trimmed.
